Garfield Town Board Meeting
May 8, 2018

Meeting called to orderby Chairman, Ed Gullickson, at 7:00 pm.
Public Comments: Bob Traynor stated that he moved the rocks as suggested and Turek-Shays plowed snow to his garage and cut trees down. County told Traynors to move the rocks and plant some trees in their right-of-way but to verify this with the Town. Board asked how far they would move the rocks. Traynor stated that he would probably move them 10-12 feet to give others room to turn around.
Road Maintenance/Equipment: Mark Knutson submitted to the Board comparisons on loaders from Cat and John Deere. Maintenance has been trying both loaders out. Motion made by Gullickson/Stroebel to approve the purchase of a 2018 908M Cat loader with financing through Cat. Carried-unanimously.
130thand Longwood Road issues: Somebody has removed the stop sign coming off 130thand replaced it with a homemade yield sign. Concerned residents on Lone Pine Lane are stating that the residents on Longwood Road are speeding off the private road. Board is wondering if Longwood residences have an association. Board stated that it is a private road and has no jurisdiction over it.
New By-Laws for Fire Association: Board was submitted a copy of the new by-laws for the fire association for review.
Park Work/New Sign: Gullickson showed a design for the new sign that was submitted. Board stated they liked the design. Sign will have a light on it and maintenance will be able to mow around it.
Park Committee wanted to know if the Town is considering updating the lights at the park to LED lights. Committee is in the processing of obtaining a grant for the park updates.
Review Junk Ordinance: Board suggested having the Town’s attorney look over the ordinance and how the process would work on dealing with non-compliant properties. Board will have attorney advise the Town on the process related to the ordinance.
Clerk’s Report: Submitted and reviewed.
Approval of Vouchers: Submitted, signed and approved. Motion made by Stroebel/Gullickson to approve submitted vouchers. Carried-unanimously.
Treasurer’s Report: Submitted and reviewed.
Approval of Monthly Board Minutes: Motion made by Stroebel/Gullickson to approve the May 8, 2018, Board minutes as submitted. Carried-unanimously.
Adjourn: Motion made by Stroebel/Gullickson to adjourn meeting, 8:35 pm. Carried-unanimously.
