Town of Garfield Secretary’s Minutes Meeting
of 12/13/07
Meeting called to order at 7:03 p.m.
In attendance: Orval Johnson, Chair; Gordon Lindahl, Member; Mark Knutson, Member;
Marilyn Buckingham, Member; Sylvan Erickson, Secretary; Scott Ward, Town Engineer;
Dan Sitz of Stevens Engineers, Planner for the Town of Garfield.
Absent: None.
A motion was made to grant a variance to Francis Klatt to create Lot 1 in government lot
3, section 14 and government lot 2, Section 11, T 33 N, Range 17 W. This lot is 1.77, but
bounded by other owners on three sides and the Wapo Sanitary District on the last side.
Expanding the lot into the sanitary district would create the need for an 800 to 900 foot
sewer line. [Gordan, Marilyn]
We then discussed a potential wind turbine that may be erected. We will be operating
under the Polk County wind turbine ordinance. The public hearing will be January 7th.
The committee wants to know the status of the two acre minimum ordinance that was
passed some time ago.
Dan Sitz continued the discussion of the future land use map. By the next meeting, each
committee member should have modified the existing land use map into a draft future
land use map.
We then discussed the Implementation Martix example. For next meeting we should
review the matrix and consider additions or changes to it.
