Town of Garfield Planning Commission Secretary’s Minutes Meeting
of 4/12/07
The scheduled Public Information Meeting commenced at 7:00 p.m.
Orval gave a short introduction of the committee members, Suzanne Peeples, and the
committee’s purpose in relation to comprehensive planning.
Suzanne presented general information and information packets on the planning process.
The regular planning commission meeting was called to order at 7:20 p.m.
In attendance: Orval Johnson, Chair; Marilyn Buckingham, Member; Mark Knutson,
Member; Sylvan Erickson, Secretary; Suzanne Peeples of Stevens Engineering.
Also in attendance were Ed Gullickson, Town Chair; Rick Nelson, land owner and other
Garfield Township property owners.
The Minutes of 2/8/07 were approved as presented. [Marilyn/Gordon]
The Minutes of 3/8/07 were approved as presented. [Gordon/Orval]
Rick Nelson presented changes to his sub-division on the corner of County Road Y and
110th Ave. A motion was made to approve the reduction in the lot sizes of lots 5, 6 and 7
on CSM 4899 superseding the former CSM of the same number. The lots are now 2.5+-
acres. [Gordon/Marilyn] Motion carried. No action by the Town Board is necessary.
RE: Allan Olson proposed sub-division near Bear Lake. A revised aerial map was
provided which removes lots 30, 31, 32, 33 until a later date and reconfigures lot 29 as
well. Concerns of the committee were the width of the shared driveway for lots 28 and
29 and public access requirements to Bear Lake. Orval will talk to the surveyors and the
DNR about these issues. This satisfied the concept review requirement and no action was
necessary.
Suzanne Peeples facilitated a discussion of the upcoming community survey. We
provided thoughts on the general information we would like the survey to provide and
she will develop the survey questions for us.
