Garfield Town Board Meeting

April 11, 2023

 

Present:  Chairman: Ed Gullickson

               Supervisor: Don Mork

               Supervisor: George Stroebel

               Clerk: Sue Knutson

               Treasurer: JoAnn Erickson

 

Residents/Citizens: 9

 

Meeting called to order by Chairman, Ed Gullickson, at 6:57pm.

 

Public Comments:  CJ Simones gave a report of things happening in the area including the Highway 65 improvements, recycling center, County Road K bridge, Clam Falls Dam, and the UTV/ATV trails.

 

Pam Ince asked about more fiber coming in the town.  Board has not heard anything and the Town has nothing to do with it.

 

Road Construction Update:  Drainage issues with Lone Pine and Walleye Court and surveying for Sunrise Beach boat landing project.

 

Set Annual Meeting Date:  Annual meeting has been rescheduled and set for Saturday, April 22, 2023, at 9:00 am.

 

Planning Committee Update – Business Location for Nate Kitzis:  Dave Nelson, Planning Committee Chair, gave a draft conditional use permit to the Board for the purpose of conducting online sales and assembling of firearms from his home.  Kitzis’s neighbors were notified and several came to the meeting.  Board asked some questions regarding the proposed new business.  Kitzis explained the types of FFLs and SOT (special occupational tax). Motion made and seconded to approve Kitzis’s conditional use permit to sell and assemble firearms out of his home.  Carried-unanimously.  Nelson also stated that Kitzis applied for a variance for the property size and the neighbors were in favor of the variance.  Board will notify Kitzis of the fees involved.  Motion made and seconded to approve the variance.  Carried-unanimously.

 

Elected Officers Sworn In:  Oath papers have been signed by all new board members.

 

Wisconsin Elections Commission (WEC) Request:  WEC has requested some information from a situation that happened during the April 4 election in regards to election law violations.

 

Don Mork’s Retirement – 24 years:  Board thanked Don Mork for all his service on the Board.  Board presented Mork with a gift card as a thank you.  Mork stated he enjoyed being on the Board and like seeing the progress that the Town has made over the past years.

 

Other Business That May Come Before the Board:  None.

 

Clerk’s Report:  Submitted and reviewed.  

 

Approval of Vouchers:  Submitted, signed and approved.  Motion made and seconded to approve submitted vouchers.  Carried-unanimously.

 

Treasurer’s Report:  Submitted and reviewed. 

 

Approval of Monthly Board Minutes: Motion made and seconded to approve the April 11, 2023, Board minutes as submitted.  Carried-unanimously.   

 

Adjourn:  Motion made and seconded to adjourn meeting, 7:50 pm. Carried-unanimously.
