Garfield Town Board – Annual Meeting                                     

April 19, 2016

 

Present:         Chairman:     Ed Gullickson

                        Clerk:              Sue Knutson

 

Residents/Citizens:  8

 

 

Meeting called to orderby Chairman, Ed Gullickson, at 4:00 pm.

 

Minutes of last annual meeting:  Motion made by Dave Nelson/Ron Elmer to approve annual town minutes as submitted.  Carried-unanimously.

 

Concerns:  Carolyn Lumsden inquired about a speed sign on her road because there are a lot of walkers, people with little kids on the road.  Gullickson stated that he will check on caution signs.

 

Annual Statement:  2015 Annual Statement (attached) was explained by Gullickson and discussed. 

 

Motion made by Dave Nelson/Donald Mork to approve the 2015 Annual Statement as submitted.  Carried-unanimously.

 

DOG Fire Association:  Kevin Christenson, Fire Chief, submitted information on the total runs for the past year.  The Department had approximately 253 runs.

 

Fire Department had their spaghetti dinner at the Dresser station on April 9, 2016, and did well.  Money will be used for new equipment.  The Department is also having their Mother’s Day pancake breakfast again this year at the Garfield station. 

 

Gullickson stated that the fire runs have declined due to the burning permits that have been issued.  Also stated to remember to follow the procedures in order to burn.  Burning permits are perpetual but would like to remind residents again to follow the procedures.  The Fire Department is always looking for new volunteers.

 

Gullickson stated that Alden has joined the fire association.  Alden has purchased the land.  The property has been cleaned up.  Some equipment will be purchased in the near future to be housed there.  

 

Gopher Bounty: Motion made by Don Mork/Dave Nelson to keep gopher bounty at $3.00 per tail, no bounty on stripe gopher tails.  Carried-unanimously.

 

Road Work:  Blacktopping is still very expensive.  Ditch work and shouldering is ongoing.  The schedule for roads

 

Maintenance building is going to run about $380,000 to be built.  Impact money and land rental money will be used towards that loan.  Insulation and steel are in the process of being put up.  Floor will be poured in the next couple of weeks. 

 

Park:   Park is doing well.  Siren is up but currently needs repairs.  New overflow parking lot is done.

 

Adjourn:  Motion made by Donald Mork/Dave Nelson to adjourn meeting, 4:48 pm.  Carried-unanimously.
