Garfield Town Board – Annual Meeting                                     

April 14, 2015

 

Present:         Chairman:     Ed Gullickson

Residents/Citizens:  13

 

 

Meeting called to orderby Chairman, Ed Gullickson, at 7:00 pm.

 

Minutes of last annual meeting:  Motion made by Dave Nelson/Don Mork to approve annual town minutes as submitted.  Carried-unanimously.

 

Annual Statement:  2014 Annual Statement (attached) was explained by Gullickson and discussed. 

 

George Stroebel commented that the Town has maintained a steady levy.

 

Motion made by Dave Nelson/Kevin Christenson to approve the 2014 Annual Statement as submitted.  Carried-unanimously.

 

DOG Fire Association:  Kevin Christenson, Fire Chief, submitted information on the amount runs for 2014 between the two departments (Garfield and Dresser).  Total runs were 260 (98 fire runs, 162 medical runs). 

 

The Department had approximately 6 runs this year in the Town of Alden.

 

 

Fire Department had their spaghetti dinner at the Dresser station last Saturday and did well.  Money will be used for new equipment.  The Department is also having their Mother’s Day pancake breakfast again this year at the Garfield station. 

 

Christenson reminded residents to follow the procedures in order to burn.  Burning permits are perpetual but would like to remind residents again to follow the procedures.  The Fire Department is always looking for new volunteers.

 

Gullickson stated that Alden has purchased the property for the new station.  The property is being cleaned up but the new station will be a four year process.

 

Gopher Bounty: Motion made by Don Mork/Dave Nelson to keep gopher bounty at $3.00 per tail, no bounty on stripe gopher tails.  Carried-unanimously.

 

Road Work:  Lone Pine Lane and Court were reconstructed last year.  This year 1.5 mile of 120th Street will be reconstructed and blacktopped.  Chip sealing will be looked at for this year to keep them maintained.  Tree clearing in the right-of-ways will be done this year.

 

Plans are being developed for a new maintenance building to be constructed this year.  Gullickson stated he did not want to raise the levy and has been in contact with the bank to combine the Town Hall loan the new maintenance building.

 

Animal Control Officer:  Darel Hall is our new Animal Control Officer.

 

Treasurer:  Gullickson thanked Valerie Anderson for the past six years and welcomed JoAnn Erickson as our new treasurer.

 

Adjourn:  Motion made by Dave Nelson/Joyce Gullickson to adjourn meeting, 7:49 pm.  Carried-unanimously.
