Town of Garfield Planning Commission Secretary’s Minutes Meeting
of 03/05/09
Meeting called to order at 7:05 p.m.
In attendance: Orval Johnson, Chair; Marilyn Buckingham, Member; Gordon Lindahl,
Member; Mark Knutson, Member; Sylvan Erickson, Secretary; and Nolan Wall, Planner
from Stevens Engineers.
Absent: Scott Ward Town of Garfield Engineer
Public Comments:
Ed Gullickson gave his opinion on the pros and cons of county zoning. He gave his
opinion on a Wind Turbine Ordinance saying that Garfield is not a good place for wind
turbines and the technology is not adequate at this time.
He also stated that the proposed public nuisances ordinance may be over-encompassing
and unenforceable.
Ed Moersfelder presented his plan to separate a 12 acre parcel of land located in the SW
¼, SW 1/4, and in Government Lots 3 and 4, all in Section 9, Town 33 North, Range 17
West, Town of Garfield.
We determined to take a month to consider possible ways to make the public nuisances
ordinance more concise.
We further discussed subdivision, road, and zoning ordinances. Nolan will develop draft
ordinances.
We discussed County zoning vs. Town zoning.
