Town of Garfield Planning Commission Secretary’s Minutes Meeting
of 2/12/09
Meeting called to order at 7:05 p.m.
In attendance: Orval Johnson, Chair; Marilyn Buckingham, Member; Gordon Lindahl,
Member; Mark Knutson, Member; Sylvan Erickson, Secretary; Scott Ward Town of
Garfield Engineer and Nolan Wall, Planner, Stevens Engineers.
Absent: None.
We reviewed the Town of Osceola’s public nuisance ordinance. We suggested changes
to 10.03 pp. 6 and 8. We suggested removing 10.05 pp. 6 opting for state laws to
regulate fireworks. We reviewed all other paragraphs, and agreed upon changes as seen
fit.
There was discussion of the schedule of upcoming vacancies of members.
Nolan Wall provided and summarized a schedule for ordinance revision and
development, specifically roadway, subdivision, zoning and impact fees. The
commission is to read the contents of the three-ring binder provided prior to the next
meeting.
We reviewed and discussed some of the pros and cons of county vs. township zoning.
Nolan handed out the Town of Lincoln’s proposed draft land use map. The land use
workshop for the Town of Lincoln will be Feb. 23rd at 6:00 p.m. We also received the
Town of Osceola’s draft land use map.
The next meeting will be Thursday March 5th at 7:00 p.m.
We will receive a proposal for a wind energy ordinance next month and a stewardship
grant application for lighting of Garfield Recreation Area Ski Trails.
