Town of Garfield Plan Commission Secretary’s Minutes Meeting
of 08/13/09
Meeting called to order at 7:05 p.m.
In attendance: Marilyn Buckingham, Member; Ed Mohrsfelder, Member; George
Strobel, Member; Sylvan Erickson, Secretary; Nolan Wall, Planner from Stevens
Engineers and Scott Ward Town of Garfield Engineer.
Ed Mohrsfelder acted as interim Chairman in Orval’s absence.
Absent: Orval Johnson, Chairman; Gordon Lindahl, Member; Mark Kopp, Member
Public Comments: None
Nolan went through the changes that were made to the Road, Driveway, Erosion Control
and Stormwater Management Ordinance. A motion was made to recommend approval
by the Town of Garfield Board of said ordinance with proposed corrections. Motion
carried. [Marilyn/George]
We discussed the conservation development options one and two. We will have an
overlay map that consists of Woodlands, Soil Limitations and Shorelands maps for the
next meeting.
A motion was made that we recommend the Town of Garfield Board move forward with
developing a Town created Town Zoning Ordinance. Motion passed. [Marilyn/George]
The first step in the zoning process is to have a special town meeting to acknowledge that
the Town of Garfield intends to begin the process and vote to move forward. We were
also provided the zoning districts for the Town of St. Croix Falls and the Town of
Hudson, a large Future Land Use map and blank Zoning maps for the members to markup.
