Town of Garfield Secretary’s Minutes Meeting
of 2/21/08
Meeting called to order at 7:03 p.m.
In attendance: Orval Johnson, Chair; Gordon Lindahl, Member; Mark Knutson, Member;
Marilyn Buckingham, Member; Sylvan Erickson, Secretary; Mark Knutson, Member;
Scott Ward, Town Engineer.
Absent: Mark Knutson and Dan Sitz of Stevens Engineers.
The minutes were read and approved as presented. [Marilyn/Gordan]
Ed Flatum, Surveyor and Stephen Christenson, land owner, presented their plan to create
a one acre lot of the corporate owned farm acreage. Stephen and Kathleen are the sole
owners of the corporation. This lot is improved with Steve’s personal residence and a
small shed and will be deeded back to Steven, personally. All other agricultural
outbuildings are located on the corporate owned farm land. This division is requested
solely for tax purposes as recommended by his accountant. Steven has no intentions to
further divide the property at this time.
Marilyn made a motion to approve the plan as both concept and preliminary review.
Scott Ward, Town Engineer, presented a second reading of the Developers Packet.
The fee structure was revised for Major Subdivisions to $100 for Concept Review, $200
for Preliminary Plat Review plus $25 per lot for each lot over four, $100 for Final Plat
Review and all related engineer fees.
For Minor Subdivisions the fees will be $50 for Concept Review and $100 for CSM
Review.
On the page titled Preliminary Plat Submittal, under Materials to submit, eight sets of
preliminary plans must be submitted, not 18.
Scott will make finalized sets for Major and for Minor subdivisions.
Marilyn would like to discuss garages, holding tanks, basements, landscaping and
minimum building sizes as potential requirements.
