Minutes of Park Committee Meeting April 16, 2008
Attendance: David Nelson, Steve Christenson, Don Mork, Joyce Gullickson,
Guests: Vi Nelson, Mark Knutson
David Nelson called the meeting to order at 7:00 PM.
Minutes - Minutes of the October 17, 2007 - DM made the motion that the minutes be approved.
DN seconded the motion. Motion passed.
Governor’s Fishing Opener:
Discussion included the fact that the ice is not out yet, but when it is the docks will have to be
put in place in a hurry. Transporting the docks to their respectful places may be a problem. SC
suggested that he ask his brother, David Christenson, if we could use his skid steer. The Town
is shopping for a mower for the park. MK commented that he will open up the road in the park
this week.
The park will be closed to the public the day of the Fishing Opening as lunch will be served to
the Governor’s group that day. There will be parking along the road and at Potter’s Cast Away
Trailer Park with shuttles for those that launch boats and must park away from the park general
area.
It is anticipated there will be 50-60 fishermen attending.
Items that need to be done before that day:
Docks put in place
Picnic tables placed
Signage for invasive plants, etc. at the park and Sunrise Beach area
MK assured us that there would be no problem getting all of this done if the ice is out soon.
General Discussion about Park:
Items needed for this summer at the park:
Water broom – to wash down the floors of the pavilions and also the restrooms (this is
put on a pressure washer)
Mower
DM made a motion that we recommend to the town board to purchase these items from the park
budget. SC seconded the motion. Motion passed.
General Discussion:
Joann Hallquist has inquired about planting a tree at the park. MK said she should contact him
and he will help her in the placement of the tree.
DM made the motion to adjourn. SC seconded. Motion passed.
Next meeting will May 14th at 7:00 PM at the Town Hall
