Minutes of Park Committee Meeting August 8, 2007

David Nelson called the meeting to order at 7:00 PM.
Minutes of the Special Meeting on July11, 2007 - MLS made the motion that the minutes be
approved as written. DM seconded the motion. Motion passed.
Park Ordinance - DN stated that the committee portion of the proposed ordinance was being
changed. That portion is to be a separate ordinance, thus the Town Board is not prepared to pass
these until the attorney has finished reworking the document.
Discussion of Park Committee Duties - The park committee is responsible for setting up a
budget for the park. We have to find out just when this is due to be presented to the Town Board
for approval.
An annual report is due to the Town Board by April 1st each year. We will need to have Mark
Knutson keep track of several items so we can include them in this report.
General Discussion about Park: Needs for the park were discussed:
Angle parking near the playground
Signage across from the maintenance building – pickup/trailers backing into the building
is a concern.
Possibility of having a pop machine. DN will check on this with Bernicks.
Playground equipment – slide, more swings, etc.
Natural planting signs – just use laminated ones – cost wise they are very reasonable.
Get a better holder for these signs.
Police Patrol of the park was discussed – they do drive through on their way past the park
Speed bumps – decided to hold off on them as there has been no speeding noticed thus
far.
Donor plaques – ML will check with the Master Gardeners to see if they have a source
for them. Need these by several trees that have been donated.
There are 28 picnic tables. Perhaps we could have another bench near the dock below the
dam.
Discussed the sign for shelter reservations. DN made one for each shelter.
MLS made the motion to adjourn. DM seconded. Motion passed.
